With over 150 restaurants in downtown alone, two homegrown Walnut Creek concepts are expanding far beyond the City limits. The three-story building located on the corner of Mt. Diablo and Main Street has turned out to be more than an architectural statement and an iconic gateway into downtown. Once a City-owned parking lot, it was developed by Walnut Creek-based BH Development with three separate restaurants on three floors as an incubator that celebrates innovative dining for all tastes. Ground floor Slice House is a fast-casual pizza concept founded by world-renowned pizzaiolo Tony Gemignani that has proven so successful that the concept is now franchising across California and Nevada. Teleferic Barcelona, the second story authentic Spanish tapas restaurant in the building, chose Walnut Creek as its first U.S. location in 2016. After much local support, it has expanded to Palo Alto, Los Gatos, and Los Angeles and has several more restaurants planned on the West Coast.
