Building Inspections

Today's Building Inspection Schedule

Inspections are required to ensure work is done safely. They are performed the day after you schedule them. You have until midnight to schedule an inspection for next day service.

There are two steps involved in scheduling an inspection: request and confirm.

ATTENTION! Holiday Closure Notice-

The City of Walnut Creek will be closed December 24, 2025 through January 2, 2026 for City holidays and closure days.

We are closed and not providing inspection services on the following dates: 12/24-26, 12/31, and 01/01. If you are seeking an inspection for 12/29 or 12/30, please note, this is dependent on inspectors’ availability AND you’d need to apply, pay and receive approval for an after hours permit in order to get an inspection on these dates due to our closure.

Happy Holidays from the Permit Center!

Keep in mind

  • Conditions to your building permit could prevent a final inspection from being scheduled, such as an incomplete waste management plan or approval from other agencies. Check your job card or call (925) 943-5834 to see if there are outstanding conditions that prevent you from scheduling your final inspection.

  • Although next day inspections are typical, they cannot be guaranteed. Unforeseen circumstances such as staffing levels or unusual demand could result in your inspection being scheduled the following day.

Special inspections

Some building permits require special inspections. Check your job card or call (925) 943-5834 to see if these are required.
