Contra Costa County Public Works 2025 Walnut Creek Surface Treatment Project
The work to be done generally consists of applying an asphalt rubber chip seal covered with a type II slurry seal on various roads in the unincorporated area of Walnut Creek. Work involves pavement surface preparation including: weed spray, pavement failure repair, crack sealing, edge grinding, removal of exiting thermoplastic stripes and markings, setting survey monuments, and placement of thermoplastic traffic striping and pavement markings.

New Aquatic and Community Center at Heather Farm Park
The existing Community Center will be demolished to make way for the new combined facility, while the Clarke Swim Center is expected to remain open to the public throughout construction. Work is scheduled to begin in January 2026 and continue through the end of 2027, with the first phase including installation of fencing and removal of trees in the areas where the new pool will be located.

Unsignalized Crossing Improvements and Trail Crossing Improvements Projects
Beginning February 2nd, crews will be installing Rapid Flashing beacons and performing striping
improvements at 14 crossings throughout the City.
Locations include:
• Mt Diablo and Bont Lane
• Civic Drive between Carlback and Ygnacio Valley Road
• Civic Drive between Parkside and Walden
• Oak Road and Kingston
• Geary Road and Creston Road
• Tice Valley Blvd
• Bancroft Road and Stratton
• Bancroft Road and Gill Port Lane
• Briones to Mt Diablo Trail at Conejo Way
• Briones to Mt Diablo Trail at Buena Vista Ave
• Contra Costa Canal Tail at Larkey Lane
• Contra Costa Canal Trail at Jones Road
Although most of the work will be performed out of the roadway, drivers can
expect lane closures during striping improvements and median work.
