What to Expect
This final phase of the project is expected to generate the most significant traffic impacts. Residents and commuters should prepare for:

- Road & Lane Closures: Expect delays and temporary detours. Please plan your routes accordingly and drive with caution through work zones.
Please click below to view the street-by-street schedule. While the City and our contractor will make every effort to stay on track, unforeseen circumstances like weather conditions or equipment delays may impact the timeline.

New Curb Ramps on Parish Drive
Crews will be out installing new curb ramps on Parish Drive, more specifically at the intersections of Claiborne Drive and Terrebonne Drive. There will be sidewalk closures during the duration of construction. This work is expected to last through mid June.
Walker Avenue Pedestrian Improvement Project
The City of Walnut Creek will be conducting the Walker Avenue Pedestrian Improvement Project starting in late Spring. The project will widen the sidewalks on both sides of Walker Avenue at San Miguel Drive and raise the crosswalk in order to shorten the crossing distance and slow down vehicle traffic. A new streetlight and high visibility pavement markings will be installed to further enhance visibility as well as ADA and sign upgrades at the intersection and crossings.
Hours for the work will be from Monday through Friday between 7:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. Portions of the sidewalk will be closed during the construction period and pedestrians and cyclists will be directed to take alternative routes until repairs are complete. Roadway lane closures will be between from Monday through Friday 9:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M.
During construction “NO PARKING” signs may be posted in advance of work. Vehicles left in posted areas will be towed if necessary at the vehicle owner’s expense. No driveway closures are planned in conjunction with this portion of the project.
The City understands there will be inconveniences due to the construction of this project and will try to maintain access and minimize any expected sidewalk or lane closures or delays.
